2006-07 (Freshman): Strother started her Golden Eagle career with a 7-8 overall record for her freshman season. She played at four different slots during the spring dual season seeing action at no. 3 (1-0), no. 4 (1-0), no. 5 (1-5) and no. 6 (2-1) for a 5-6 spring record. Storther played two doubles matches in the fall with Francina Bonnelly for a 0-2 record and saw action at no. 2 doubles with Shannon Brown against Notre Dame's Kelcy Tefft and Brook Buck on April 21. Prior to Marquette:Strother was ranked as the No. 4 player under the age of 18 in Alberta while attending the National Sport School in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. She qualified for nationals from 2001-06, but because of her American citizenship was unable to participate until 2005. Strother was a finalist at the Alberta Open two consecutive seasons, including winning the doubles championship in 2006. In March of 2006, she finished in third place n the Junior Alberta Provincials in the U18 Division. Early in her career Strother won the Casely's U16 International Junior Tournament in 2004, and then won the Ellensburg Jr. Championship in the singles and doubles division in 2005. Personal: Strother was born April 20, 1988. She is the daughter of Doug and Laurie Strother. She is majoring in nursing. |
