Martens Named a Top-75 Recruit by SoccerBuzz

Freshman Danielle Martens (Lee's Summit, Mo.), who graduated a semester early from high school to enroll at Marquette University, was named a Top-75 recruit in the nation by SoccerBuzz. The magazine recently announced the nation's top 150 recruits in its annual ranking of elite players.

Mallams Named to U-23 National Team

Senior women's soccer player Allison Mallams earned a spot on the U.S. U-23 Women's National Team roster following an eight-day training camp in Portland, Ore. It was announced by U.S. Soccer officials recently. Mallams' selection marks the first Marquette women's soccer player to be named to the U-23 Women's National Team.

Marquette Soccer Mom Camp Begins May 9

The Marquette University men's and women's soccer programs will be hosting its second annual Soccer Mom Camp beginning with a celebration May 9 at Valley Fields. Women can register to participate in the one-night event or the four-day camp, which includes a weekly skills clinic that also meets May 16, 23 and 30. All proceeds from the camp benefit the KICKS Against Breast Cancer campaign.

Marquette Caps Spring Season in Florida

The Marquette women's soccer team wrapped up its spring season with a 1-0 win over Miami (Fla.), 0-0 draw with Florida Gulf Coast and a 0-1 loss at Florida Atlantic Saturday in Boca Raton. Marquette played a 70-minute match against FAU and 60-minute matches against the Hurricanes and Eagles. The Golden Eagles finished the spring season 5-2-3 overall.

The Marquette women's soccer team will wrap-up its spring season in the "Sunshine State" in Boca Raton, Fla., on Saturday, April 19. Marquette will play FAU at 9:45 a.m. ET, 2007 NCAA Tournament participant Miami at 12:15 p.m. ET, and Florida Gulf Coast at 1:30 p.m. ET.

Ask your average college student about a spring break trip to the Caribbean. Chances are, most will tell you this vacation is synonymous with sunny beaches during the day and boisterous revelry at night. Very few vacationers will ever see the incomparable reality of these places, the one that exists outside of the lavish resorts and breathtaking scenery.

Very few can tell you about the some 80 percent of Haitians that live in abject poverty, for whom each day brings the endless struggle to meet the most basic of needs. Molly Arenberg can tell you. Then again, maybe Molly isn't your average college student.

Golden Eagles Defeat Wisconsin in Spring Play

The Marquette women's soccer team played its final home matches of the spring season Sunday in very blustery conditions at Valley Fields. The Golden Eagles defeated Wisconsin, 1-0, but fell to Northwestern, 1-0, to improve to 4-1-2 for the spring season. Rosie Malone-Povolny scored MU's lone goal of the day.

Four Student-Athletes Honored as National Strength and Conditioning All-Americans

The National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) has awarded four Marquette University student-athletes its annual All-America Strength and Conditioning Athlete of the Year award. The award recognizes the student-athletes' dedication to strength and conditioning.

Junior Michelle Compty of women's soccer, junior Jessica Keiser of volleyball, senior Greg Sirotek from the men's tennis team and junior Wesley Matthews of the men's basketball team each were honored with this award.

The Marquette women's soccer team will continue spring play Saturday, April 5, in North Carolina where the Golden Eagles will take on a pair of NCAA Tournament participants from a season ago in Duke and UNC Greensboro. Marquette will play Duke at 12:45 p.m., and UNC Greensboro at 2:30 p.m. Both games will be held at WakeMed Soccer Park formerly named SAS Park in Cary, N.C.

Golden Eagles go Undefeated in Spring Play

The Marquette women's soccer team had a strong showing in its first three outdoor games since the 2007 fall season defeating Green Bay, 5-0, and Loyola (Ill.), 2-0, and tying UW-Milwaukee, 1-1, on March 29. All of the games were played on the turf field at Valley Fields with all eligible Marquette players seeing action in many different lineup combinations. Over the course of the day, four different Golden Eagles scored goals.
