The Marquette men's and women's soccer teams sponsored its first Soccer Mom Clinic at Valley Fields on Friday, April 27.

Over 50 area women participated in the first of the month-long event.

"Simply put April 27th, the first of five Soccer Mom nights, was one of the most special nights I have ever been a part of," said Associate Head Coach Stan Anderson. "Breast cancer is ridiculously prevalent in our lives, it has affected countless amounts of people here at Marquette. If this event can help in any way than we did our job."

Men's and women's soccer players were on hand to help with the clinic, which raised $5,000 for Breast Cancer Research.

"The 55 ladies that joined our staff and players at Valley Fields did a tremendous job. Thanks to our players, both men's and women's, for donating their time and effort, and I credit to them for seeing the bigger picture," Anderson said. "I cannot tell you how many Soccer Moms came up and credited our Marquette student-athletes for a job well done."

The clinic runs on Friday nights at Valley Fields through the end of May.
