Bode Named Assistant Men's Soccer Coach at Marquette University

April 15, 2008

MILWAUKEE - Marquette University head men's soccer coach Louis Bennett announced today the signing of Paul Monsen to a National Letter of Intent. Monsen, originally from Stoughton, Wis., has spent the last two years playing and training with the Shattuck-St. Mary's School residency program in Fairbault, Minn.

"He's a good addition to our program," Bennett said of Monsen. "He's a specialist central defender who has had great year-round, full-time training at Shattuck-St. Mary's over the last 14 months. He's an intense, focused player that when he becomes familiar with college requirements and the college lifestyle, he's going to be a significant player. With some work, he can bring that physical element of his game right into the college game. How much time it takes, depends on how quickly he adjusts."

Monsen completes the Golden Eagles' 2008 recruiting class. He was an All-Southern Badger Conference selection following his sophomore season at Stoughton High School. Monsen then went to Shattuck-St. Mary's where he was named the team's Most Improved Player in 2007.

Recently, Monsen was selected to travel to Costa Rica for a week of competition as part of the regional Wisconsin Youth Soccer Olympic Development Program.
