MILWAUKEE - Junior Kyle Saginus was named the 2007-08 Marquette BIG EAST/ Aéropostale Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year as announced by the conference office. Each institutional winner receives $2,000 toward graduate studies.

"Kyle really embodies the true meaning of a student-athlete," head coach Mike Nelson said. "He spends a lot of time devoted to both school and athletics. He is a great example for all of our younger athletes to follow."

Saginus is a mechanical engineering major at Marquette and competes on the cross country team and in the distance events on the track team. He crossed the line in 24:44.55 in the 8K of the BIG EAST Cross Country Championships this season.

The BIG EAST/Aéropostale Scholar-Athlete Awards were established to recognize student-athletes who have achieved success in the classroom and on the field. Aéropostale sponsors all of the conference's academic awards for graduate or professional school studies and has provided apparel items to all participants at men's and women's BIG EAST Championship events. In addition, the BIG EAST/Aéropostale Administrative Fellowship Program provides a qualified former student-athlete the opportunity to work at the BIG EAST Conference office to learn the essential elements of athletics administration. Aéropostale and the BIG EAST have been partners since 1999.
